Do you provide props for newborn sessions?
Let’s talk about props. Let’s also keep in mind that your baby’s comfort is my priority. So when we talk about props for sessions, we are talking about blankets, baskets or bassinets, maybe even the occasional stuffed animal.
I ask that you provide a small stack of clean blankets
This is the most important thing to have ready, besides your baby, of course. Having a small stack of clean blankets in varying textures is important because we will use them in almost every single shot, if not every shot. We will use some for your baby to lay on and some for swaddling, so having different textures gives us more to choose from. I love white or cream colored blankets. Pink, blue, yellow, and green are adorable but can cast color onto your baby’s skin. So having neutral colors to choose from is important.
Do you have a special item that is important to include?
This is a question for you! If you have a blanket made by someone special or another item that is meaningful to you, please let me know so I can incorporate that into your newborn session. I want to be thoughtful of things that bring you joy or cherished memories.
Let’s talk baskets
I love baskets. I think babies and baskets can be adorable. Do you need a basket? Nope. Not at all. Your baby is who everyone wants to see, the rest is simply extra for their comfort.
If you wish to provide a basket please make sure there is enough room for your baby to be comfortable. The sides of the basket should be low so we can see your baby easily with just a blanket underneath for comfort.
Let’s keep it simple!
That pretty much covers it. I like to keep it pretty simple because again, we all just want to see your beautiful baby. As a reminder, I bring a small portable studio so there aren’t environmental distractions to worry about. This session really is just focused on your baby; the newest member of your family who is beautiful, cherished, and celebrated.
